Social, Community & Political Projects
I have grown up in an environment of active social participation, both at the family and individual levels. My family has supported the organization Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, a non for profit organization that supports children, since I was born. My parents have helped fundraise for this organization, and from a very young age, they took me to visit their locations in the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
¿ Do you know what Zacapa is?
Zacapa is a region in Guatemala mainly known for rum production, but it is more than just that. In this region we find Gualán, a completely isolated community living on less than a dollar a day, as there are no opportunities to develop an economy that would provide jobs for its inhabitants. The land is infertile, there is no agriculture, commerce, transportation, or other means of subsistence. That’s why a close group of friends, their families, and I decided to create “Amigos de Gualán,” a project aimed at supporting the community’s youth in their studies. Along with my family, I have adopted a family with four children. In addition to visiting them to provide recreational activities and give talks on various topics, we are exploring options to establish a solid economy to create a direct and meaningful impact on them.
Aside from this project, I have completed over 200 hours of community service in various areas. I have worked with children and animals, painted schools, built stoves for homes, among other activities.
At school, I am a co-founder of the French Club, where we encourage students in our bilingual school to explore a third language and French culture. I also hold a leadership position in the Coding Club, where we expand students’ knowledge in computer science. Additionally, I am an active member of clubs such as Model United Nations and the National Honor Society.
